Spectrum° of the Compass°: Poetry by Diane Maietta

You have a compass in your thoughts and your actions that direct the course of your life.  Be the captain of your soul.

Make conscious choices that give a beautiful noise to the meaning you were born to create, and explore the frontiers of your spirit--challenge the map of your being, and become the territory of your wildest dreams.

Spectrum° of the Compass°

(By countless silken ties of love and thought,

To everything on earth, the compass round.

—Robert Frost, The Silken Tent.)

My compass measures

 360°×360°×360°,

And so on, and so on…

A perfect sphere of many circles,

Many directions, datelines, tropics,

Equators and continental divides…

My compass holds frontiers

Beyond all wildest dreams:

It goes to the epicenter of Earth’s %

Up to the Moon, and back.

My navigation is one of wild imagination:

The inheritance of Delight when Wisdom

Blew kisses to Creativity,

Before the face of the Earth was measured,

While Divinity danced and played

Across the virgin tundras

Of innocent thoughts,

Before the words “pure, ingénue, naivete”

Were ruled and defined,

Creating my desire and my fury,

 My wealth

Is only a compass,

Magnetized and controlled by Awe…

And North?

That is always my heart and soul…

You can find your way

By me in the dark…
