Evacuees From Flooding Find Free Shelter In South Carolina Hotel

Jaret Hucks, owner of the Midtown Inn and Cottages in South Carolina, has been a great example of inspiring generosity in his community. When Myrtle Beach gets hit by a hurricane, the community knows they can find shelter at Jaret Huck’s Inn.

So far Jaret has given away over 1,000 free nights to people in need. According to CBS, one guest said “I don't know what we would have done," and "I don't know where we would be right now."

The best part about the story is the surrounding community supports Jaret’s efforts. Through this crisis people have flooded to help Jaret with supplies so that he can continue to support so many people at his Inn. They’ve brought food, diapers, and much more so that others are taken care of.

The best part about it, is Jason does it because the community needs him. "Love thy neighbor, right? That's what you're supposed to do," Jaret told CBS. "My mama taught me that a long time ago.” The thank you letters he receives from the families he homes are just an added bonus.

How can you be inspired by what Jaret is doing? Is there some small way that you can help your community today? Maybe you can watch a child while the parents go out on a date, or organize a community trash pick up. We all can find ways to give back to our community and Jaret should be an example to all of us.
