Firefighter Leaves His Wedding To Fight Fire

According to Today, Jeremy and Krista Bourasa have a wedding story that few can repeat. After the original venue for their wedding fell through, they decided to hold the wedding at Jeremy’s work, a fire station in St. Paul Park, Minnesota.

The couple worried about getting a call during the wedding, but Krista made sure Jeremy knew that the wedding was important and that he was not to leave during it. After the ceremony, which went as planned, the fire station got a call for a house fire while the couple was taking pictures. Jeremy resisted the urge to go.

A few minutes later and the station received another call asking for additional firefighters. Krista looked at her husband and told him to go help. The reception continued as planned and Jeremy even made it back in time for the first dance with his wife. Afterwards, Krista said the wedding went perfect.

While this is an amazing story, it has a potent message for all of our lives. It can be easy for us to get so consumed with our own lives that we can make it seem more important than so many other events. In this case, a wedding is a truly special moment in life but while that happened another family was losing their home. This story is an extreme example, but in everyday life it can be as simple as taking a break from a phone call to say thank you to the cashier. By keeping our lives in perspective, we are thinking about others lives as well.
